Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Parsurameswar temple is one of the ancient Hindu temples of Bhubaneswar city in Orissa. It is believed that the temple was constructed in around 650 AD, in Nagara style. The Lingaraj Mandir is located is a generously spaced courtyard sprawling over 25, 0000 square feet. The courtyard is bastioned by sturdy walls. The exquisitely carved tower of the temple, shoots up to a height of 180 feet. Inside the sanctum sanctorum is enshrined the Shivalingam that is ar ound 8 inches in height, above the floor level and is around 8 feet in diameter. In the north-west direction of the courtyard is located the Bhagawati Temple.
The Lingaraja Temple is visited by the devotees each day. There is a constraint is the total number of worship services that can be conducted in a particular day and is limited to 22. Once a year, the shivalingam is taken to the Jalamandir which is right in the center of the Bindu Sagar Lake.
Rajarani Temple in Bhubaneswar boasts of a distinctive charm. Raja Rani Temple in Bhubaneswar was constructed in the 11th century from reddish and yellow sandstone called 'Rajarani' in the local dialect. Also, the shrine is famous amongst the natives as the ‘love te mple’ because of the erotic carvings of couple and women in the sanctum sanctorum.

The Brahmeswar Mandir illustrates the innovative and mature style of temple architecture in Orissa. The temple stands in the midst of a courtyard and is flanked by smaller structures. One of the remarkable features of the temple is its tower that shoots up to a height of 18 meters. It was during the construction of this temple that iron beams, as means of support, were used by the builders. The Brahmeswar Mandir is the second temple after Mukteshwara that flaunts an intricately carved Jagamohana. The sculptures that grace the temple are extremely detailed and corroborate the skilled workmanship of the Orissan artists. The Brahmeswar Mandir shows a striking similarity with the Raj Rani Mandir in the erotic sculptures that are used as adornments in both of them. Besides these there are the figurines of dancers and musicians with the lion-head motif used quite liberally.
